Matthew Jackson understands the value of strong and respectful relationships.
As Manager Community & Indigenous Engagement, Matthew is responsible for leading the team that is accountable for building relationships with Indigenous communities and non-Indigenous stakeholder groups in Eastern Canada. Matthew is leading the Indigenous & Community engagement on the NextBridge East-West Tie Project. A $777 million project that traverses 450km of Ontario’s North West and will provide more than $200 million in local benefits to Indigenous communities.
With over 10 years experience in the energy sector, Matthew has held engagement roles in the Ontario government, Union Gas and Enbridge where he has led the successful community and Indigenous engagement on large scale energy projects totalling more than $4 billion.
In addition to his experience in energy sector, he recently completed a term as a municipal councillor in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula where he made local economic development and fostering improved relations with neighbouring Indigenous communities his top priorities.
Jackson has a diploma in Business Administration, Management Studies from Conestoga College and an Honours degree in Business Commerce from the University of Lethbridge.
He was born and raised in Wiarton, Ontario on the Bruce Peninsula near Georgian Bay.
