Ontario’s chemistry sector is a significant economic contributor in Canada and enabler of the broader manufacturing sector on both sides of the border. It is critical for the success of the sector to create and retain high-skilled jobs while advancing its operational capabilities and developing regional economic strengths across the province, including Sarnia-Lambton and Eastern Ontario. Ontario’s chemistry sector also has a critical role to play in the ongoing development of the circular economy, part of which includes reducing plastic going to landfills and turning waste into a resource. Hence, the Ontario government is focused on improving the conditions for businesses to grow and succeed, strengthening a dynamic and highly skilled workforce, and supporting a strong, innovative economy. Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, along with partner ministries, regularly engages with the chemistry sector and continues to support its evolution.
